Magness Oil Company was established in 1960 by founder J.W. Magness. A son of the founder, Benny Magness with his wife Janie, purchased the Cotter, Arkansas base of the company in 1977. Benny and Janie continue to own and manage Magness Oil Company, assisted by their son, Jeffrey Magness, vice president, who handles most day-to-day operations. (The J.W. Magness Oil Company was sold by Michael and Mitchell Magness in 2007.)
In the beginning, Magness Oil Company supplied the “gas stations” of the past with gasoline and automotive accessories like tires, batteries, and windshield wipers. Customers were also farms, the railroad, and boat docks of the northern Arkansas river and lake country that surrounds Cotter, Arkansas.
Now, convenience stores have replaced the service station. Magness Oil operates and leases more than 55 Snappy Mart and On the Run convenience stores serving the retail gasoline needs of consumers. Magness Oil provides tanks in sizes from 500 to 20,000 gallons for a variety of businesses, with a growing fleet of trucks and drivers in thirteen states.
Additional key employees include Audrey Melton as Director of Retail Operations; Brooke Carter as the chief financial officer and accounting staff supervisor; and Brian Weidrick as General Operations and Transportation Director.
Magness Oil expects continued growth in providing wholesale fuel supplies and petroleum products for convenience stores, industrial businesses, boat docks and marinas, trucking companies, government agencies, farms, the construction industry, and airports. Magness Oil is proud to offer excellent customer service, branding opportunities for new and existing businesses, and reliable delivery of petroleum products to fuel businesses of the region, and beyond.
